About Us: Who We Are and How We Test

Rhetts Cheuvront is a journal for people who use technology to do real work. Honest guides for the curious reader, written by people who build, buy and test things, not by a sales team.

Who we are

We are a small crew of developers, designers, marketers and technology writers who got tired of launch decks pretending to be advice. Rhetts Cheuvront started in 2026 as a shared notebook of tool costs, test results and workflow notes, passed between friends who kept asking the same question: is this actually worth it?

Today the site reaches readers who want to adopt technology without wasting a quarter on something that does not work. We are independent, we take no sponsored placements, and we keep the whole archive free to read.

Our mission

Our mission is simple: give readers the information a good colleague would give them. Every week we publish free guides across five sections: Software, Hardware, Web Design, Blogging and E-Commerce. Real 2026 prices, tested workflows and decisions you can act on before you commit.

We would rather tell you a tool is overpriced than pad a list to fill it. If three options are worth your money, we name three, not thirteen.

Editorial standards

No sponsored picks and no pay-to-rank lists. We use primary documentation, published prices and our own tests, disclose any relationship, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours. Numbers come from official pricing pages and real invoices, never from a press release alone. If a claim fails verification, we say so.

When we recommend a product or a workflow, we tell you the trade-off. A laptop that runs quiet under load but cannot be upgraded, a platform that is cheap until you need support, a plugin that adds a subscription to save ten minutes. The caveat is part of the guide.

The team

  • Rhetts Cheuvront, editor and lead writer, fifteen years of building and buying software.
  • Maya Ellison, software and team tooling, a former product engineer.
  • Tobias Grant, hardware and repair, a decade of bench testing laptops and monitors.
  • Lena Ortiz, web design and accessibility, a front-end developer and typographer.
  • Priya Raman, blogging and search, a former newsroom audience editor.

Supported by contributing testers who review every guide before it ships. If a claim does not hold up in daily use, it does not go out under our name.

If you are planning a purchase, start with the Software section or our most recent guide to choosing tools a team will actually use.

Where we cite standards or technical detail, we point readers to primary documentation and independent bodies such as the W3C, alongside our own testing.
